Tone Personal Light
The Ardea are the great herons—those elegant birds with the long, infinitely flexible necks. Inspired by these majestic birds, Yves Béhar designed the Ardea personal light to be infinitely adjustable. Its ingenious neck design lets you direct Illumination right where you need it—on paperwork, a keyboard, or a good book. And like the herons, Ardea is kind to the earth.
Designer Tom Newhouse positively beams when illuminating the virtues of light-emitting diodes. He’s especially intrigued by the ramifications of their minuscule size. Though the light output is generous, the LEDs themselves are tiny. Consequently, the lamp containing them can be smaller, too. “LEDs provide a tremendous opportunity to sculpt a new form factor for a desk lamp,” he says. “We don’t have to design around big bulbs, so we can use less material and achieve an unobtrusive footprint.”
